A Midlands pub owner has hit back at a scathing Tripadvisor review, calling the customer a “tool” and suggesting she “get a life.”
Julie, a disgruntled patron, left a one-star review of the Plough Inn in Far Forest, describing her experience as “absolutely shocking” and the establishment as “absolutely vile.” She complained about the carvery selection, dessert portions, and the overall service, which she described as “slow” and “crafty.”
Julie’s review, which has garnered attention online, is a stark contrast to the pub’s 3.5-star rating based on over 1,300 reviews.
The Plough Inn owner, Mark, however, defended his establishment, dismissing Julie’s criticisms as unwarranted. He wrote in his response on Tripadvisor: “Reading all your reviews I’m at the opinion your a bit of a tool, nothing good to say about any body with the exception of Costa.” He went on to suggest she “stay at home” and pointed to his own experience with a disappointing Indian meal, but said he wouldn’t give a bad review.
This public spat has sparked debate online about the impact of online reviews on businesses and the importance of constructive criticism. The Plough Inn remains open and continues to serve customers, despite the recent negative publicity.
