DENISON, Texas – The Denison Independent School District (DISD) kicked off construction on a brand new campus for B. McDaniel Intermediate School on Tuesday. The project, which has been in the planning stages for several years, is designed to accommodate the city’s booming population growth.

“We’ve anticipated this day for some time and couldn’t have asked for a better morning,” said DISD Superintendent Dr. David Kirkbride. “We’re excited to get this project going; it’s a phenomenal facility that will support the students of Denison for many years to come.”

The new school, located on FM 84, is expected to be complete by the start of the 2026 school year. Dr. Kirkbride expressed gratitude to the district’s long-range planning committee and board of trustees for their foresight in anticipating the need for a new facility.

“Building this school will take care of our immediate needs and will also set us up for the future for the next several years,” said Dr. Kirkbride. “This is just the beginning.”
