Former Pakistan leg-spinner Saeed Ajmal has revealed his delight at dismissing legendary Indian batter Sachin Tendulkar in international cricket. Describing Tendulkar as “the most honest and kind in the world”, Ajmal expressed his immense respect for the “legend” and recalled a moment where Tendulkar advised him to bowl a “dusra” to dismiss Kevin Pietersen.

Speaking at the launch of the GloFans High School Cricket Cup in Sharjah and Ajman, Ajmal shared his memories of playing alongside Tendulkar. “I call him Sir. He is worthy of that. In cricket, when you go to the ground, there is nothing like Sir, but I have played with him in it, it is a matter of honour for me. I have got him out, it is a matter of happiness for me,” he said.

The 46-year-old recalled an incident from 2010 where Tendulkar advised him to use the “dusra” delivery to dismiss Pietersen. “He told me to get Petersan out by doing dusra. Then I got Petersan out by doing dusra. He was very happy. Then when I took 4 wickets in 4 overs, Sachin told me that now the match has 6 wickets left, you should not finish it too early. He has always respected us. He is a very good man,” Ajmal said.

The former Pakistani cricketer highlighted Tendulkar’s immense contribution to the sport, recalling his record-breaking career that includes the highest number of runs in international cricket (34,357), most centuries (100) and half-centuries (164) in international cricket, and the only player to have scored a century of centuries. He also remembered Tendulkar’s crucial role in India’s 2011 World Cup victory and his dominance in both Test and ODI formats.
