– The suspect, Muhammad Shahzeb Khan, planned to carry out a mass shooting at a Jewish center in Brooklyn, New York, in support of ISIS.
– FBI Director Christopher Ray stated that the suspect had been in contact with Hamas and had been planning the attack for about a year.
– Khan had posted on social media and communicated with others on messaging applications in support of ISIS, distributing propaganda videos and literature.
– The suspect also discussed crossing the border from Canada to the US to carry out the attack and mentioned specific dates significant to Jewish religious observances as targets for the attack.
– Khan faces charges for providing material support to a foreign terrorist organization and could face up to 20 years in prison if convicted. The case will be prosecuted in federal court with guidance from the US Sentencing Commission and other legal authorities.
