Andhra Pradesh Wins National Energy Conservation Award for Fourth Consecutive Year

VIJAYAWADA, December 13, 2025 – Andhra Pradesh has been awarded the first prize in Group-II of the National Energy Conservation Awards for the fourth consecutive year. The award recognizes the state’s commitment and success in implementing energy conservation and efficiency schemes across various sectors, including buildings, industry, municipal services, agriculture, DISCOMs, and transport.

Chief Secretary K. Vijayanand announced the achievement, highlighting the state’s top performance with a score of 89.25 in the State Energy Efficiency Index (SEEI) – 2025, an improvement from 87.25 in 2024. L. Sivasankar, CMD of APSPDCL, will receive the award on behalf of the AP State Energy Conservation Mission (AP-SECM) from President Droupadi Murmu in New Delhi on National Energy Conservation Day, December 14.

Vijayanand emphasized that Andhra Pradesh leads the nation in executing its energy conservation strategy through comprehensive and impactful programs, fostered by cooperation among government departments, consumers, and stakeholders. Key initiatives include the Integrated Clean Energy Policy, the AP Industrial Development Policy 4.0 (2024–29), and sector-specific policies for MSMEs, electronics, and food processing. He also cited significant advancements in enforcing the Energy Conservation Building Code (ECBC), implementing energy efficiency projects in schools, hospitals, and ITI colleges, and introducing advanced technologies in MSMEs.

S. Nagalakshmi, AP-Genco MD and SECM CEO, expressed gratitude to the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) for its support and acknowledged the contributions of various departments and DISCOMs in achieving this recognition.
