Thane, Maharashtra – December 11, 2025: Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) Chief Raj Thackeray appeared in a Thane court today and pleaded not guilty to charges related to a 2008 rioting case. The case stems from incidents on October 19, 2008, where Thackeray and MNS workers were accused of targeting candidates from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh who were taking the Railway Recruitment Board exam.

Chief Judicial Magistrate A.V. Kulkarni framed charges against Thackeray and several MNS workers, including rioting, assault on candidates, and attacks on police personnel. When asked if he accepted the charges, Thackeray responded in the negative.

“Mr. Thackeray would attend court proceedings whenever so directed,” stated his lawyer, Rajendra Shirodkar, after the hearing.
