Sun Dec 07 09:23:04 UTC 2025: ## Salah Slams Liverpool, Hints at Exit After Being ‘Thrown Under the Bus’
Liverpool, UK – Mohamed Salah has publicly criticized Liverpool and manager Arne Slot, claiming he’s been made a scapegoat for the team’s underwhelming start to the Premier League season. The Egyptian striker, visibly frustrated, hinted at a potential departure from Anfield after being benched during Saturday’s 3-3 draw with Leeds United.
“I’m very, very disappointed,” Salah told reporters after the match. “I have done so much for this club, everybody can see that… it seems like the club is throwing me under the bus.”
The 33-year-old, who signed a contract extension earlier this year, expressed feeling betrayed by broken promises from the club’s leadership. He has started the last three matches on the bench, a decision that has fueled speculation about his future at Liverpool.
Salah, a key figure in Liverpool’s success over the past eight years, scoring 250 goals and winning two Premier League titles, believes he deserves more respect. “I don’t think I’m the problem,” he stated. “I have done so much for this club with the respect I want to get. And I don’t have to go every day fighting for my position because I’ve earned it.”
Manager Arne Slot defended his decision to bench Salah, stating it was a tactical choice. “At that moment in time, it was more about controlling the game, and we didn’t need a goal,” Slot explained, adding that Salah’s short-term future includes the Africa Cup of Nations.
However, Salah painted a different picture of his relationship with the manager. “I had a good relationship with the manager, and all of a sudden we don’t have any relationship. I don’t know why,” he said.
Salah will be joining the Egypt National Team on December 15th for the Africa Cup of Nations, and he says that he plans to say goodbye to the fans before then, not knowing what the future may bring.
Liverpool faces Inter Milan in the Champions League on Tuesday, followed by a home game against Brighton & Hove Albion, matches that could potentially be Salah’s last in a Liverpool shirt.
