Tripura Congress MLA Threatens Violence Over Electoral Roll Review
Agartala, Tripura – December 7, 2025 – Senior Tripura Congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman issued a stark warning today, stating that Booth Level Officers (BLOs) who attempt to manipulate the electoral roll during the upcoming Special Summary Revision (SSR) will face public beatings.
Addressing party workers in Indranagar, Barman emphasized the Congress party’s demand for a transparent and error-free electoral roll, vowing to prevent practices seen in other states like Maharashtra, Bihar, and Haryana. While the party supports the removal of deceased or foreign voters, they will not tolerate the inclusion of fraudulent names, duplicates, or “ghost voters.”
“Tripura is a small State where everybody knows everybody. If any BLO tries to delete the names of genuine voters or include any fake names under pressure from the ruling party, he or she will be beaten up publicly,” Roy Barman declared.
He also accused the ruling BJP of attempting to disrupt the Congress party’s training program for booth-level agents by allegedly preventing the provision of necessary equipment. Despite these alleged obstructions, the training proceeded outdoors.
Roy Barman called on Chief Minister Manik Saha to ensure a fair environment for political activities.
