Kadapa, December 4, 2025 – A special POCSO court in Kadapa, Andhra Pradesh, has handed down a life sentence to Gali Ramprasad Reddy, a 28-year-old mason, for the sexual assault of an eight-year-old girl aboard the Rayalaseema Superfast Express in January 2019. The verdict, delivered on Wednesday, December 3rd, also includes a ₹10,000 fine.

Judge C. Praveen Kumar ordered the Guntakal Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) to provide ₹10.5 lakh in compensation to the victim. In addition, the court recommended departmental action against the Traveling Ticket Inspector (TTI) who was on duty at the time of the incident.

According to court documents, the assault occurred when the girl, traveling with her parents, went to the toilet. Her screams alerted her parents, fellow passengers, and vendors, who apprehended Reddy and handed him over to the TTI. Reddy subsequently escaped at Kadapa Railway Station.
