Sun Nov 23 18:40:00 UTC 2025: ## 76ers Face Heat Shorthanded: Rookie Edgecombe Questionable, Embiid Still Out
PHILADELPHIA, PA – The Philadelphia 76ers will be facing the Miami Heat on Sunday with a growing injury list. In addition to the already sidelined Joel Embiid and Adem Bona, rookie sensation VJ Edgecombe is now questionable with left calf tightness.
Edgecombe, the No. 3 overall pick in the 2025 draft, has been a key contributor for the Sixers, averaging a team-high 37.4 minutes per game. The team announced ahead of tip off that Edgecombe has been ruled out for today’s contest. According to head coach Nick Nurse, the calf tightness emerged after the Sixers’ recent overtime victory against the Milwaukee Bucks. Imaging results came back clean, and Nurse stressed that the decision to sideline Edgecombe is purely precautionary.
“It’s good that this isn’t anything major, and it’s good that the Sixers are being cautious with a calf injury to their 20-year old rookie who plays 37 minutes a night” according to the team.
The team is still without star center Joel Embiid, who will miss his seventh consecutive game due to soreness in his right knee. The team stated that doctors believe Embiid needs more time to recover, despite showing progress. Adem Bona remains out with an ankle sprain and will be re-evaluated in the coming days. Kelly Oubre Jr. remains sidelined with an LCL sprain.
The Miami Heat are also dealing with their own injury woes. Tyler Herro, Nikola Jovic, and Andrew Wiggins are all out for Sunday’s game. Norman Powell is listed as probable. Terry Rozier will also be absent.
The Sixers and Heat will tip-off at 1:00 p.m. ET.
