Chennai, November 23, 2025 – A young boy in Avadi, Chennai, met with a tragic accident on Saturday, succumbing to strangulation after becoming entangled in a cradle fashioned from a sari. The victim has been identified as Hariharan, son of Sathish and Meena, residents of the Govardhanagiri area.

According to Avadi police reports, Meena briefly left Hariharan at home while visiting relatives in the vicinity. During this time, while playing in the sari cradle, Hariharan’s neck became caught, leading to suffocation and unconsciousness.

Upon returning home and discovering her son, Meena rushed Hariharan to the Avadi Government Hospital. Tragically, medical personnel pronounced him dead on arrival.

The makeshift cradle had been originally set up for Meena’s sister, who had recently given birth while staying with the family. Although her sister had since returned home, they kept cradle up for Hariharan who used to play in it.
