Digital Life Certificate Campaign Eases Pension Process for Indian Seniors

HUBBALLI, India – November 21, 2025 – The Union government’s Digital Life Certificate (DLC) campaign is gaining traction, simplifying the process for pensioners to submit their life certificates. Under Secretary to the Department of Pension and Pensioners Affairs, Deepak Gupta, inaugurated a DLC campaign at the State Bank of India (SBI) main branch in Dharwad on Thursday, stating that the initiative aims to reduce the burden on pensioners by allowing them to upload life certificates via the Jeevan Praman mobile application.

Previously, pensioners were required to appear in person before disbursing agencies or obtain a life certificate, causing significant inconvenience, especially for elderly and infirm individuals. The Jeevan Pramaan scheme digitizes the entire process, eliminating the need for physical presence and logistical hurdles.

SBI’s AGM, Umesh Prasad Shah, announced the bank’s goal of bringing 220,000 pensioners under the DLC campaign this year. The bank has enhanced its system to allow submissions from home or nearby centers. On the inaugural day, numerous pensioners benefited from the new initiative.

The move is expected to streamline the pension process, making it more accessible and convenient for India’s senior citizens.
