Doha, Qatar – In a heart-stopping Asia Cup Rising Stars 2025 semi-final clash, Bangladesh A emerged victorious against India A after a tied match and a nail-biting Super Over at the West End Park International Cricket Stadium in Doha.
India A won the toss and elected to field, a decision that initially seemed to pay off as they restricted Bangladesh A to 194/6 in their 20 overs, with Meherob’s late blitz of 48 runs off 18 balls, including 6 sixes, proving crucial. Gurjapneet Singh was the pick of the Indian bowlers, taking 2 wickets.
In response, India A matched Bangladesh A’s score of 194/6, setting the stage for a Super Over. However, India A faltered under pressure, losing two wickets for no runs against the bowling of Ripon Mondal. Despite Suyash Sharma taking a wicket on the first ball of the Super Over, a wide ball that allowed Bangladesh to steal a run gave Bangladesh the edge. Bangladesh A then secured the win, booking their place in the final.
Ripon Mondal was named Player of the Match for his superb performance, taking two wickets in the Super Over and an earlier wicket during Bangladesh’s defence.
India A’s chase was highlighted by Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s explosive start, scoring 38 runs off 15 balls. Priyansh Arya also contributed with a well-made 44. However, a middle-order stutter and the inability to score the required 16 runs in the final over of the regular innings led to the tie.
The decision by India A captain Jitesh Sharma to not send in Vaibhav Suryavanshi and Priyansh Arya in the Super Over has raised eyebrows and sparked debate.
Bangladesh A will now face either Pakistan A or Sri Lanka A in the final on November 23rd at the same venue. The second semi-final will determine their opponent.
