TIRUPATTUR, November 20, 2025 – Tragedy struck early Wednesday morning near Ambur town in Tirupattur district when two Ayyappa devotees were killed in a road accident on the Chennai-Bengaluru Highway (NH-48).
The deceased have been identified as P. Gangadaran, 38, and M. Suriya, 22, both from Tiruttani. The incident occurred around 5:30 a.m. at Chengilikuppam village, as a group of 36 devotees, including ten children, were returning to Tiruttani from their pilgrimage to Sabarimala.
According to police reports, the group’s omni-bus had stopped for a tea break when Gangadaran, Suriya and two other devotees – E. Narasimhan, 39, and S. Hari, 19 – were struck by a mini-truck.
