Aadhaar Updates Made Easier: UIDAI Announces Major Digital Reforms
New Delhi, [Date] – The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has unveiled a series of significant reforms aimed at providing greater digital convenience to Aadhaar cardholders across the country. The changes will streamline processes for updating personal information and verifying identity.
One of the most notable updates allows users to directly update key details such as their name, address, date of birth, or mobile number through the UIDAI portal. This eliminates the need for in-person visits to enrolment centers. The information submitted will be digitally verified using government documents like PAN cards, passports, or driving licenses, enhancing speed and accuracy.
Furthermore, the government has set a deadline of December 31, 2025, for linking Aadhaar with PAN cards. PAN cards not linked by this date will be deactivated on January 1, 2026. New PAN applicants will also be required to complete an Aadhaar-based verification.
The UIDAI has also simplified the digital Know Your Customer (KYC) process for banks and financial institutions. Users can now verify their identity through video KYC, Aadhaar OTP-based authentication, or in-person verification if needed.
A revised service fee structure took effect on November 1st. Aadhaar reprints will now cost Rs 40, biometric updates Rs 125, and demographic updates Rs 75.
