Texas A&M Pulls Off Stunning Comeback Against South Carolina in Ugly SEC Showdown
COLUMBIA, SC – November 16, 2025, 1:12 PM EST – In a game that defied description, the Texas A&M Aggies somehow managed to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat against the South Carolina Gamecocks on Saturday. What began as an unmitigated disaster for A&M, quickly spiralled for South Carolina after a dominant first half performance.
The first half was a comedy of errors for the Aggies. Quarterback Marcel Reed struggled mightily, completing only 6 of 19 passes with two interceptions, including one in the end zone. Missed field goals and dropped passes further compounded their woes. South Carolina capitalized, amassing a 27-3 lead and appearing poised for an easy victory.
However, the script flipped dramatically in the second half. Texas A&M roared back, scoring 28 unanswered points. Reed found his rhythm, completing 16 of 20 passes with three touchdowns. Meanwhile, the Gamecocks’ offense sputtered, managing a mere 76 yards and failing to score a single point. LaNorris Sellers regressed back to his normal form, throwing errant pass after errant pass.
“I’m not lost for words very much, but I was lost for words with the team in the locker room after the game,” said Texas A&M coach Mike Elko. “To score 28 straight points and win a football game that ends with a 99-yard drive, there’s just not a lot of words for that. It’s really impressive.”
Despite the comeback win, the game exposed flaws in both teams. The Aggies, while undefeated, showed their inconstancy to the point where they almost lost to an SEC bottom-feeder.
While the SEC is known for its competitive schedule, the quality of play in this particular matchup left much to be desired, but Texas A\&M remains undefeated. But the Aggies are still inconsistent, as what SEC team isn’t?
