Peacock Drops First Clip of “Wicked: For Good,” Setting the Stage for Epic Sequel

LOS ANGELES, CA – Fans of the hit musical “Wicked” are getting their first glimpse of the highly anticipated sequel, “Wicked: For Good,” with an exclusive clip now streaming on Peacock. Director Jon M. Chu surprised fans on Monday by releasing the two-minute preview ahead of the film’s New York premiere.

The clip features a tense confrontation between Elphaba (Cynthia Erivo) and the Wizard (Jeff Goldblum) on Glinda’s (Ariana Grande) wedding day. Elphaba challenges the Wizard, stating, “I would give anything to go back to a time when I… when I actually believed that you were wonderful, a wonderful Wiz of Oz…there’s no going back, and we can’t move forward until everyone knows what I know.” The Wizard retorts that the people will never believe her, “Because they don’t want to.”

“Wicked: For Good” picks up where the first film left off, with Elphaba now demonized as the Wicked Witch of the West, living in exile while fighting for the freedom of Oz’s silenced Animals and trying to expose the Wizard. Glinda, on the other hand, has become a glamorous symbol of Goodness, preparing to marry Prince Fiyero (Jonathan Bailey) while haunted by her separation from Elphaba. The film explores the consequences of their choices, the transformation of other characters, and the impact of a girl from Kansas on their lives. Elphaba and Glinda must ultimately confront each other in a final showdown to change themselves and all of Oz for good.

The film also stars Michelle Yeoh as Madame Morrible, Ethan Slater as Boq, Marissa Bode as Nessarose, Bowen Yang and Bronwyn James as Glinda’s assistants, Sharon D. Clarke as the voice of Dulcibear, and Colman Domingo as the voice of the Cowardly Lion.

“Wicked: For Good” is directed by Jon M. Chu and written by Winnie Holzman and Dana Fox, and music by John Powell & Schwartz. The film is produced by Marc Platt and David Stone, with executive producers Stephen Schwartz, David Nicksay, Jared LeBoff, Holzman, and Fox.

Universal Pictures will release “Wicked: For Good” in theaters on November 21st. Leading up to the release, NBC will air the “Wicked: One Wonderful Night” special on November 6th (also streaming on Peacock) and the first “Wicked” film on November 19th.
