Sat Nov 15 20:00:00 UTC 2025: TURIN, Italy (AP) — Felix Auger-Aliassime of Canada defeated Germany’s Alexander Zverev in straight sets Friday at the ATP Finals to secure the final spot in the tournament’s semifinals.
Auger-Aliassime will now face Carlos Alcaraz, who clinched the year-end No. 1 ranking after a dominant performance in the group stage. Auger-Aliassime won 6-4, 7-6 (4) to advance from the Bjorn Borg group, joining Jannik Sinner in the next round.
“This is a high-value tournament,” Auger-Aliassime said. “You want to be in the final, but I will have to overcome a great player to do it. I will take the risk if needed.”
Earlier, Sinner completed a clean sweep of his round-robin matches by defeating Ben Shelton 6-3, 7-6 (3). Sinner will face Alex de Minaur in the other semifinal match.
Zverev struggled with nerves and unforced errors throughout the match. He failed to convert any of his four break point opportunities.
This marks Auger-Aliassime’s first appearance in the semifinals of the ATP Finals, the season-ending event for the top eight players in the world. Sinner looks to be the front runner after not losing a set in the group stage matches. The final is set for Sunday.
