VVCE Hackathon Challenges Students to Solve India’s Unique Problems with AI
MYSURU, November 14, 2025 – A national-level hackathon, HACKKSHETRA 2.0, kicked off at Vidyavardhaka College of Engineering (VVCE) today, challenging engineering students to develop innovative, technology-driven solutions tailored to India’s specific needs. Rajneesh Sharma, center head of Incture Technologies, Bengaluru, urged participants to focus on sectors like agriculture, water management, and healthcare during the 24-hour event.
Sharma emphasized the urgent need for technological advancements in remote villages, drawing on his experiences from Himalayan treks. He encouraged students to explore opportunities in smart irrigation systems and sensor-based household automation. Hanumantrao Kulkarni, also from Incture Technologies, highlighted the power of AI in bridging the gap between ideation and execution.
Principal B. Sadashive Gowda spoke about India’s rising global innovation rankings and emphasized the need to transition from a service-based economy to a product-driven one, tasking the students to convert ideas into impactful products. He also announced that VVCE will host the national-level Smart India Hackathon next month.
Over 400 teams from across the state registered, with 65 teams shortlisted. With 2025 designated as the Year of Artificial Intelligence by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), the hackathon aims to drive AI-driven solutions in agriculture, education, healthcare, and IoT. Expert jury members will evaluate the projects, with cash prizes awarded to the winners.
The event was attended by dignitaries including Gundappa Gowda, president of Vidyavardhaka Sangha, and Shobha Shankar, vice-principal of VVCE.
