Mon Nov 10 00:40:00 UTC 2025: Headline: Cowboys Made Blockbuster Offer for Quinnen Williams, Included Micah Parsons

ARLINGTON, TX – The Dallas Cowboys made a bold attempt to acquire New York Jets defensive tackle Quinnen Williams during the offseason, even offering star linebacker Micah Parsons in a trade package, according to Fox Sports’ Jay Glazer.

The proposed deal, revealed Sunday, would have sent Parsons and a draft pick to the Jets in exchange for Williams. While the Jets declined the offer at the time, Dallas remained determined to land Williams, especially as the trade deadline approached.

Ultimately, the Cowboys secured Williams on Tuesday, sending a 2026 second-round pick, a 2027 first-round pick, and defensive tackle Mazi Smith to the Jets. Before the season started, Dallas also traded Micah Parsons to the Green Bay Packers for two first-round picks and defensive tackle Kenny Clark.

Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones emphasized the need to improve the team’s run defense, a key factor in their inability to win in the playoffs. “That was a part of winning right now,” Jones told reporters, explaining the acquisition of Kenny Clark. “We felt like when you look at the frustration is we hadn’t been able to win the big game in the playoffs, and we think it is a direct connection to not being able to stop the run.”

The decision to trade Parsons, while difficult, was driven by a contract dispute that reached an impasse. While the team acknowledges it was never an ideal situation, they saw a chance to fill the position by trading Parsons for Kenny Clark.

The addition of Williams aims to bolster the Cowboys’ defense, but questions remain about the long-term value of sacrificing valuable draft picks, especially given the team’s current 3-5-1 record. However, Williams, a three-time Pro Bowler and 2022 First-Team All-Pro, is under contract through 2027 and offers stability and elite talent to the Cowboys’ defensive line. The hope is that Williams will help the Cowboys move forward and boost their defensive performance this season.
