Mother of Deceased BRS MLA Demands Inquiry into “Mysterious” Death, Alleges Medical Negligence and Foul Play
Hyderabad, November 9, 2025 – The mother of the late Maganti Gopinath, a BRS MLA from Jubilee Hills who passed away on June 8, 2025, has filed a formal police complaint demanding a thorough investigation into what she describes as “mysterious circumstances” surrounding her son’s death and alleged negligence in his medical care.
Mahananda Kumari, 92, in her letter to the Raidurgam police, alleges inconsistencies in the treatment provided to her son at AIG Hospital in Gachibowli, raising concerns about the timing of his death declaration and possible foul play. Gopinath, who suffered from multiple ailments and comorbidities, had previously undergone kidney removal surgery.
Kumari claims her son’s medical reports indicated rising creatinine levels and other abnormalities for months, but timely dialysis was not initiated, leading to a deterioration of his condition and his untimely death. “Their inaction and negligence led to an unwarranted delay in initiating dialysis,” she stated.
Further fueling her suspicions, Kumari alleges she was denied access to her son in the ICU, with hospital security citing written instructions from someone named Dishira. She claims that BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao was permitted to visit Gopinath on June 6, 2025, and that Rao left without offering her any explanation, heightening her concerns about manipulation.
“I strongly believe that an impartial investigation will reveal the extent of negligence, manipulation, and possible foul play surrounding his death,” she wrote, urging the police to examine the roles of those involved in his care and probe the alleged obstruction she faced at the hospital. She also requested scrutiny of Gopinath’s personal staff and gunmen during the medical emergency.
The complaint includes copies of Gopinath’s medical records, histopathology records, and documents related to his nephrectomy and cancer diagnosis.
The Raidurgam police have registered a case and have initiated a probe to verify the allegations.
