MILWAUKEE – Giannis Antetokounmpo powered the Milwaukee Bucks to a commanding 126-110 victory over the Chicago Bulls on Friday night, kicking off their NBA Cup title defense in style. Antetokounmpo dominated the court with a stellar performance, racking up 41 points, 15 rebounds, and 9 assists.
The Bucks continued their undefeated streak in the NBA Cup’s group play stage, boasting a 9-0 record over the tournament’s three-year history. Antetokounmpo’s 19-point surge in the fourth quarter sealed the win for Milwaukee, highlighting his offensive prowess.
While Antetokounmpo led the charge, Myles Turner contributed a season-high 23 points for the Bucks, and Ryan Rollins added 20. For the Bulls, Matas Buzelis scored 20 points and grabbed eight rebounds, while Josh Giddey posted 16 points and 14 assists. Giddey’s performance marks consecutive games with a triple-double, a feat not seen by a Bulls player since Michael Jordan in 1989.
The Bucks pulled ahead for good early in the third quarter, extending their lead with an 8-0 run late in the game. Antetokounmpo initiated the spurt with a 3-pointer, followed by a dunk assisted by Rollins. Turner then completed the run with a 3-point play.
The Bucks were without Taurean Prince due to a neck strain.
Looking ahead, the Bulls will face the Warriors in Cleveland on Saturday night. The Bucks will host the Houston Rockets on Sunday.
