Bareilly, India – November 8, 2025 – The Ittehad-e-Millat Council (IMC) President Maulana Tauqeer Raza Khan and five others remain in jail after a court in Bareilly rejected their bail applications on Friday. The individuals were arrested in connection with the September 26 violence that stemmed from the controversial “I Love Mohammad” posters.
According to Additional District Government Counsel Mahesh Pathak, Raza is accused of instigating the violence by calling on members of the Muslim community to gather at the Islamia Maidan despite existing prohibitory orders. When police intervened, the gathering turned violent, with the mob resorting to stone-pelting and allegedly stealing a rifle from the Superintendent of Police (city)’s gunner and a wireless set from a police jeep.
Ten FIRs have been registered across multiple police stations related to the incident, naming over 125 individuals and citing over 2,500 unidentified suspects.
