KSRTC Announces Extensive Bus Services for Sabarimala Pilgrimage Season

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, India – November 7, 2025 – The Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) today announced its comprehensive plan to provide dedicated bus services for the upcoming Mandala-Makaravilakku pilgrimage season to Sabarimala. Beginning November 15, 2025, and continuing until the Makaravilakku on January 14, 2026, approximately 1,750 buses will operate in three phases to accommodate the large influx of pilgrims.

The KSRTC assures the public that these special services will be implemented without disrupting regular routes. Bus decorations must not obstruct the driver’s view. Unit chiefs are ensuring bus roadworthiness.

The first phase will see the deployment of 467 buses, including a mix of low-floor, fast passenger, superfast, deluxe, super express, and short-wheel buses. Subsequent phases will involve 502 and 800 buses respectively. Clear signage in multiple languages (Malayalam, English, Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, and Kannada) will be displayed at Pampa to provide service information to pilgrims.

To ensure financial viability, a minimum of 40 passengers is required for each trip to Pampa. Pilgrim groups can pre-book KSRTC buses up to 10 days in advance, with pickup within a 10-km radius of the starting point.

In addition to regular services, KSRTC will operate special chartered services from major temples and railway stations including Kottarakkara, Thiruvananthapuram, Kottayam, Guruvayur, Chengannur, Thiruvalla, and Ernakulam South, based on demand. A seamless chain service between Pampa and Nilackal will also be provided.

KSRTC urges pilgrims to utilize the pre-booking option to guarantee transportation during this peak season.
