Bengaluru, November 1, 2025 – In a passionate address during the 70th Karnataka Rajyotsava celebrations, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah declared the state government’s dedication to preparing the Kannada language for the challenges and opportunities presented by Artificial Intelligence. The initiative aims to ensure that technological advancements do not lead to job displacement within the state.
“We are committed to preparing Kannada for the new technological challenge so that our people are not left behind in the AI revolution,” Siddaramaiah stated, urging scholars and experts to contribute to making Kannada a language of modern technology.
The Chief Minister also voiced concerns about the impact of English and Hindi on children’s creativity, advocating for the importance of education in one’s mother tongue. He announced plans for a new policy to elevate Kannada language, heritage and culture and said the government will be upgrading 800 Kannada medium and 100 Urdu medium schools as Karnataka Public Schools (KPS) with upgraded infrastructure at an estimated cost of ₹2,500 crore
Furthermore, Kannada will be introduced into 180 madrasas across the state this year, with plans to expand this initiative to all 1,500 madrasas in the future. ₹483 crore has been sanctioned to upgrade 100 Urdu schools under the KPS model.
Siddaramaiah also criticized the Union Government’s alleged “step-motherly attitude” towards Karnataka, citing disparities in funding allocation between Hindi/Sanskrit and Kannada, despite the state’s significant contribution to national taxes.
Highlighting Karnataka’s economic success, the Chief Minister noted that the state has surpassed Maharashtra in attracting Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), accounting for 51% of India’s total FDI share in 2024-25. He also pointed to the state’s low unemployment rate of 2.5% and its rising per capita income.
