The win, the largest of the season so far, has significantly boosted their playoff chances, with coach Randeep Dalal and captain Ankit expressing confidence in their team’s strategic approach and overall performance.
Dalal revealed that the team entered the match with a calculated plan, aiming to maximize their score difference in the qualification race. “We came here with thorough calculations… We calculated based on the score difference, thinking we need to build as much lead as possible in this match,” he stated.
The victory puts the Pirates in a strong position before their final league match against the Jaipur Pink Panthers. Dalal emphasized that the team’s winning mentality will remain the same. “We will play openly in that too, because we come to play every match to win,” Dalal said. “Qualifying is a different matter, but if the team maintains a winning rhythm, we will play only to win.”
He also lauded the balanced performance of the team, singling out raider Ayan for his consistent performance throughout the season, and Ankit and Milan for their crucial support roles. “Today was a complete team effort, so we won by a good margin,” he added.
Captain Ankit echoed the importance of improving the score difference, acknowledging that it was a significant factor in their playoff aspirations. “Our score difference was a lot in the negative… We should close the score a little, and the score will be very useful for us in the next match,” he explained.
Despite the pressure of the looming playoffs, Ankit remained composed. “There’s nothing special about the playoffs. Kabaddi is the same, the game is the same. We will play like this, the whole team will play well,” he affirmed.
