Killeen Mourns the Loss of Retired Teacher Veda Kay Waheed

KILLEEN, TX – The Killeen-Fort Hood community is mourning the passing of Veda Kay Waheed, a beloved retired high school English teacher. Ms. Waheed, remembered for her passion for language, literature, drama, and music, passed away recently.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. this Thursday at First United Methodist Church in Killeen. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home in Killeen.

Ms. Waheed dedicated her life to education, inspiring countless students with her love of storytelling, the beauty of words, and the value of lifelong learning. She was known for her dedication, joyful presence, warmth, intelligence, gracious spirit, and unwavering positivity.

“Her students were blessed to have her as their teacher as she was blessed to work with them in the classroom. Ms. Waheed will be remembered for her dedication to her students, her love of literature and the arts, and her joyful presence that brought comfort and inspiration to so many,” according to the obituary submitted to KDH news.

Preceded in death by her parents, Kamal and Namat Waheed, Ms. Waheed is survived by her sister, Leah, as well as numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
