Coimbatore Residents Invited to Address Civic Concerns in Ward-Level Meetings

Coimbatore, October 24, 2025 – Coimbatore district is set to host special ward-level meetings from October 27th to 29th, providing a platform for residents to voice their concerns and contribute to improving local civic amenities. The initiative, spearheaded by local bodies including the City Corporation, Municipalities, and Town Panchayats, aims to enhance basic services and address citizen grievances effectively.

Each meeting will be chaired by the respective ward councillor, with a designated Corporation or Municipal official coordinating the proceedings. Residents, welfare association representatives, and volunteers are strongly encouraged to participate in these sessions.

The primary focus of the meetings will be to review and improve essential services such as drinking water supply, solid waste management, streetlight maintenance, road infrastructure, parks, and stormwater drains. Participants will have the opportunity to highlight deficiencies and submit requests, with three priority proposals from each ward being selected for immediate implementation. Progress on these initiatives will be tracked via the Mudhalvarin Mugavari portal, ensuring accountability and follow-up action.

Beyond addressing immediate concerns, discussions will also encompass broader community initiatives. These include efforts to enhance greenery through tree planting along open spaces, roadsides, and waterbody bunds, supported by social organizations and industries. The maintenance of parks by voluntary groups and welfare associations will also be explored.

Pre-monsoon preparations, such as the cleaning of stormwater drains and the identification of flood-prone areas, will be prioritized. The meetings will further address pollution prevention in waterbodies, awareness activities under the Clean Cities Initiative, and improvements to the Chief Minister’s Breakfast Scheme and facilities in Corporation-run schools.

District Collector Pavankumar G. Giriyappanavar has emphasized the importance of citizen participation in these meetings. “These ward-level meetings are a crucial opportunity for residents to actively contribute to the betterment of their communities,” he stated. “By working together, we can ensure the timely and effective resolution of local issues and create a more livable and sustainable environment for all.”

Residents are urged to attend the meetings in their respective wards to contribute to shaping the future of Coimbatore.
