Rival News Anchors Unite to Celebrate Deborah Roberts’ New Book on Sisterhood

NEW YORK, NY – A rare display of camaraderie unfolded at media hotspot Michael’s this week as colleagues from competing television news networks gathered to celebrate Deborah Roberts’ latest literary endeavor, “Sisters: Loved and Treasured.” The book, which compiles 50 intimate stories from influential women like Viola Davis and Jenna Bush Hager about the bonds of sisterhood, drew a star-studded crowd including Robin Roberts, Gayle King, Savannah Guthrie, and Hoda Kotb.

The event, described as a “fun sisterhood of morning television,” commenced with opening remarks from Disney’s news group boss, Debra O’Connell. Robin Roberts then introduced Deborah Roberts, highlighting her own contribution to the book, which includes interviews with Deborah’s two sisters.

“She wasn’t supposed to be there, [she showed up] just to keep tabs on how much family tea they were sharing,” a source joked, referring to Robin Roberts’ unexpected appearance during the interviews. David Muir, who was anchoring “ABC World News Tonight,” sent his well wishes through Robin, later surprising Deborah by attending the party after his broadcast.

Deborah’s husband, Al Roker, her four sisters, Arianna Huffington, and several ABC colleagues also joined the celebration.

“The Sisterhood journey is unfolding in real time… Thank you to everyone who is embracing this book,” Roberts shared in an Instagram post featuring her siblings. “I’m eternally grateful and hopeful that it offers a light into the complex and life affirming world of sisters and sister friends.”
