Wed Oct 08 15:51:53 UTC 2025: **Pakistan’s Defence Minister Claims India Was Only United Under Mughal Emperor, Warns of War**
Islamabad – In a controversial interview, Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has asserted that India was only truly united during the reign of Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb, a claim widely disputed by historical accounts. Asif also stated that “chances of war with India are real.”
Speaking on Samaa TV, Asif dismissed India’s history of unification prior to and following Aurangzeb’s rule, including the Maurya Empire and the Gupta Dynasty. He contrasted India’s history with Pakistan’s creation “in the name of Allah”.
Asif’s remarks come days after India issued a strong warning to Pakistan against supporting state-sponsored terrorism, with the threat of “losing its geographical presence” if such activities continue. Indian Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi stated that India would not show the same restraint as in previous operations and that Pakistan’s actions could jeopardize its territorial integrity.
“I do not want escalation, but the risks are real, and I am not denying that. If it comes to war, God willing, we will achieve a better result than before,” Asif said.
This is not the first time Asif has made headlines for questionable statements. He previously suggested Pakistanis collect floodwater in containers and touted it as a “blessing”. He also spread misinformation about the shooting down of Indian fighter jets, later citing social media as his source.
