Tue Oct 07 01:00:00 UTC 2025: **Perry Mattfeld Lands “Dream Role” in New Sports Comedy ‘Chad Powers’**

**Hollywood, CA** – Actress Perry Mattfeld, known for her dramatic roles in “In the Dark” and “Long Bright River,” is stepping into the world of sports comedy alongside Glen Powell in the new Hulu series “Chad Powers.” Mattfeld plays assistant coach Ricky Hudson for the South Georgia Catfish football team, a role she describes as a “dream come true.”

The series, based on the popular ESPN skit featuring Eli Manning in disguise as a college football hopeful, centers around Russ Holliday (Powell), a disgraced NFL quarterback who adopts the persona of Chad Powers for a second chance. Mattfeld’s character, Ricky, forms an unexpected bond with the quirky Chad, helping her to be taken more seriously as a female coach.

Mattfeld’s personal connection to football played a crucial role in securing the part. A former cheerleader and wife of NFL veteran Mark Sanchez, she says her knowledge of the sport made the role feel uniquely suited to her. Sanchez even contributed to the show’s authenticity, consulting with the writers and providing insights into NFL and college football culture.

“When I read this script, I was like, the fact that my two worlds could be meeting together was amazing — that is what made this my dream role,” Mattfeld told The Hollywood Reporter.

The actress praised Powell’s comedic performance and the show’s writing, emphasizing the authenticity of the football world they’ve created. She also hinted at a developing friendship between Ricky and Chad, noting that their shared status as “odd ones” strengthens their bond.

“Chad Powers” premieres on Hulu, with new episodes airing Tuesdays.
