**Telangana Braces for Heavy Rainfall as Low-Pressure System Intensifies**
**Hyderabad, September 25, 2025** – Telangana is on high alert as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts heavy to very heavy rainfall across several districts over the next three days. The heavy rainfall is attributed to a low-pressure system over the west-central Bay of Bengal, which is expected to intensify into a depression within the next 24 hours. The system is predicted to cross the southern Odisha-northern Andhra Pradesh coast around September 27th, bringing widespread rainfall to Telangana.
Districts expected to receive heavy rainfall include Adilabad, Mancherial, Kumuram Bheem Asifabad, Peddapalli, Bhupalpally, Mulugu, and Bhadradri Kothagudem. Hanumakonda, Warangal, and Mahabubabad are likely to experience very heavy rainfall.
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has directed all district collectors to be on high alert and closely monitor the situation. He instructed officials to take necessary precautions, including relocating people from low-lying areas to relief centers, regulating traffic in flood-prone zones, ensuring uninterrupted power supply, and addressing potential hazards posed by hanging power cables. Authorities have also issued warnings for people living in the Godavari river basin, as heavy inflows into the Sundilla (Parvathi) Barrage have prompted the release of over 650,000 cusecs of water downstream. Residents in low-lying areas are advised to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions.
