**CHENNAI, June 25, 2025 (The Hindu) -** A 28-year-old lorry driver, identified as N. Sethupathi from Sivagangai, was killed Tuesday night in a tragic hit-and-run incident near Vanagaram. According to city police, Sethupathi, who worked for a caravan vehicle company in Puliyambedu, was sleeping outside the company compound gate after completing his shift.
The incident occurred when a truck driver working on the Puliyambedu Road paving project for the Thiruverkadu Municipality attempted to reverse the vehicle in the darkness. With no streetlights illuminating the area, the driver reportedly failed to see Sethupathi sleeping on the ground and ran him over. Sethupathi died instantly at the scene.
The truck driver immediately fled the scene after the incident. Vanagaram police have launched a manhunt for the suspect and are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the fatal accident. Sethupathi’s body has been sent to Government Kilpauk Medical College Hospital for a postmortem examination.
