Prabhakar, the Regional Transport Officer (RTO) of Hosur and RTO-incharge of Krishnagiri, has been apprehended by the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) after being found in possession of ₹2.46 lakh in cash. The interception took place at the Krishnagiri Collectorate campus on Thursday evening.
The raid, supervised by Deputy Superintendent of Police Nagarajan of the DVAC, was prompted by numerous complaints alleging that Mr. Prabhakar was accepting bribes through intermediaries. These bribes were reportedly solicited in exchange for issuing permit sheets for private vehicles, approving mini bus routes, accrediting driving schools, and overlooking irregularities during office inspections.
According to the DVAC, Mr. Prabhakar’s official vehicle was stopped, and the cash was discovered in his personal bag. An inquiry into the matter is currently underway to determine the full extent of the alleged corruption and the origin of the seized funds.
