Fri Jun 13 09:03:14 UTC 2025: ## Karnataka Braces for More Heavy Rain as Red Alert Issued for Coastal Districts
**Bengaluru, June 13, 2025** – Karnataka is experiencing widespread rainfall, prompting the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) Bengaluru to issue a red alert for several coastal and interior districts. Uttara Kannada, Udupi, Dakshina Kannada, Shivamogga, Chikkamagaluru, and Kodagu are under a red alert for June 13 and 14, indicating forecasts of heavy to very heavy, and even extremely heavy rainfall.
The IMD attributes the heavy precipitation to an upper air cyclonic circulation currently positioned over North Interior Karnataka and adjoining Telangana and Rayalaseema. This system is expected to persist, continuing to bring heavy rainfall to coastal Karnataka until June 17.
A yellow alert, signifying potential for heavy rainfall, has also been issued for Belagavi, Dharwad, Haveri, and Hassan districts until June 17. Meanwhile, Bengaluru is predicted to experience light to moderate rain accompanied by sustained winds during the same period.
The heavy rainfall has already caused significant waterlogging, with reports of inundation in areas like Dajibanpet locality in Hubballi on June 12th. Residents are urged to take necessary precautions and stay informed about weather updates.
