**VIZIANAGARAM, May 21, 2025:** The Legal Metrology department in Vizianagaram is actively enforcing regulations and educating the public as part of World Legal Metrology Day celebrations. For the past two weeks, officials have been conducting awareness programs across the district, urging traders to adhere to the Legal Metrology Act-2009.

The campaign aims to ensure fair trade practices, protecting consumers from fraudulent weights, incorrect measurements, and inflated prices. Traders, including general merchants, petroleum dealers, fertilizer traders, and bullion merchants, have been receptive to the outreach efforts.

“We booked 3,044 cases across the North Andhra districts of Vizianagaram, Parvatipuram-Manyam, and Srikakulam in the financial year 2024-25,” stated Deputy Controller B. Madhusudana Reddy. The department collected ₹1,76,71,452 in stamping fees and ₹1,07,34,600 in compounding fees during the same period, demonstrating the scale of enforcement.
