Mon May 12 17:30:00 UTC 2025: ## IPL 2025 Resumes This Weekend After Security Concerns

**Mumbai, May 12** – The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 will resume this Saturday, May 17th, following a week-long suspension due to security concerns stemming from escalating border tensions between India and Pakistan. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed the restart in a statement today, stating the decision followed extensive consultations with government and security agencies.

The revised schedule features 17 matches across six venues: Bengaluru, Delhi, Lucknow, Jaipur, Mumbai, and Ahmedabad. The final will be held on June 3rd, with playoff venue details to be announced later. The resumption comes despite several overseas players having already departed India, raising questions about their participation given upcoming international commitments, particularly for Australian and South African Test players ahead of the World Test Championship Final on June 11th.

The revised schedule includes only two double-headers, both on Sundays. The remaining matches will be spread across the six venues. Notably, several teams, including Chennai Super Kings, Sunrisers Hyderabad, and Punjab Kings, will not host their remaining home games at their originally designated stadiums. The abandoned Punjab Kings vs. Delhi Capitals match will be replayed in Jaipur on May 24th. The tournament will conclude with the final on June 3rd. The BCCI emphasized its commitment to completing the tournament safely and fairly.
