**KOCHI, May 13, 2025** – The Kerala State government has approved a ₹10 crore project to widen a congested 350-meter stretch of Aluva Market Road, Public Works Minister P.A. Mohamed Riyas announced late last night. The project will expand the road from Karothukuzhy Junction to the NH 544 service road to 12 meters, including a 7.5-meter tarred carriageway and footpaths on both sides. The initiative aims to alleviate traffic congestion, particularly during peak hours when vehicles avoid the busy Aluva metro station area. The project is estimated to require 25 cents of land, costing approximately ₹6.75 crore. Beyond traffic relief, the widening is expected to boost commercial activity in the Aluva market.
