Tue May 13 01:00:00 UTC 2025: ## Unexpected Monsoon-like Rains Cool Down Rajasthan

**Jaipur, May 13:** Rajasthan experienced a sudden and significant drop in temperatures following unseasonal heavy rainfall across the state on Monday. The downpour, which included hail in Sikar and Ajmer, brought much-needed relief from the recent heatwave. Eight cities, including Jaipur, Sikar, Tonk, Bhilwara, Jhunjhunu, and Hanumangarh, reported heavy rain.

Earlier in the day, temperatures had soared, with Bikaner reaching a high of 42.5 degrees Celsius. However, the unexpected showers brought a sharp contrast to the intense heat. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicts a decrease in rain and thunderstorms in the next two days, with temperatures expected to rise by 2-3 degrees Celsius. A further increase is anticipated, with Jodhpur and Bikaner predicted to reach 44-45 degrees Celsius from May 14th, marking the beginning of the third heatwave phase this year.

While the IMD forecasts light to moderate rain with thunderstorms in some parts of Kota, Udaipur, Jaipur, and Bharatpur on May 13th, a subsequent temperature increase is expected across the state. The pre-summer monsoon rains have temporarily disrupted the rising temperatures, offering a brief respite from the scorching heat that Rajasthan has experienced in recent weeks.
