**Madurai, May 12, 2025** – A 60-year-old woman, M. Ramuthai, was murdered in Madurai district on Monday after refusing to transfer her property to her nephew. Police report that J. Damodaran, 35, strangled his aunt following a dispute over her 1.70 acres of land near Peraiyur. Ramuthai, who lived with her brother in Andipatti, was visiting relatives when the incident occurred. Damodaran, the son of Ramuthai’s sister’s brother, demanded she register the land in his name. When she refused, he killed her. Peraiyur police are currently investigating the case.
