**Dedham, MA** – Testimony resumed Monday in the murder trial of Karen Read, accused of killing her Boston Police Officer boyfriend, John O’Keefe, by backing her SUV into him. State Police Sergeant Yuri Bukhenik is expected to continue his testimony in Norfolk Superior Court.
Friday’s testimony included the reading of flirtatious text messages exchanged between Read and ATF agent Brian Higgins in the weeks before O’Keefe’s death. The messages detailed a shared kiss, and Higgins questioned Read about O’Keefe’s alleged negative comments about him. Read denied these claims.
The defense maintains that Higgins, along with Brian Albert (who lived at the location of a post-incident gathering), may have been involved in a physical altercation with O’Keefe inside the house. Prosecutors, however, assert that O’Keefe never entered the house and that Read, intoxicated, accidentally struck him with her vehicle. The trial continues.
