The event, part of the ongoing Miss World competition, saw delegates from nations including India, Vietnam, Myanmar, and Australia participate in interfaith prayers and rituals.

The contestants toured the park’s various sections, including the Buddhacharitha Vanam depicting the Buddha’s life, and the Jataka Park showcasing stories from his previous births. They also visited the Buddhist Heritage Museum, viewing ancient relics and gaining insights into Buddhist history. Dr. Shiva Nagi Reddy of the Archaeology and Tourism Department highlighted Buddhavanam’s significance as a testament to India’s ancient Buddhist heritage and its role in spreading peace and compassion globally.

The visit culminated in a meditative session within the Great Stupa, followed by a Bailli Kuppa Maha Bodhi Puja led by 25 monks, and a theatrical performance depicting episodes from the Buddha’s life. The event showcased Nagarjunakonda’s historical importance as a vibrant center of Mahayana Buddhism and the relocation of its ancient monasteries and stupas to Buddhavanam to protect them from submergence.
