Sat May 10 06:50:00 UTC 2025: ## Kamehameha Kapalama Eyes State Baseball Title After Dominant Season
**HONOLULU —** Kamehameha Schools Kapalama enters the Hawaii high school baseball state tournament as the top seed in Division I, aiming to secure their fifth state championship. The Warriors, fresh off their third consecutive Interscholastic League of Honolulu (ILH) title, boast a 15-2 season record, highlighted by a victory over Iolani last week.
Their success is attributed to a well-rounded team, featuring a potent offense (including four double-digit run wins) and a strong pitching staff. While employing 15 pitchers throughout the season, the team relies heavily on a trio of standout hurlers: Kaikai Kaneshiro and Greyson Osbun (both University of Nevada, Reno commits), and Elai Iwanaga (University of California, Los Angeles commit).
The team’s success, according to coach Daryl Kitagawa, stems from a focus on “staying in the moment, playing one pitch at a time,” and a strong team unity. Players emphasize the importance of mutual support and collaborative effort.
Last year’s semifinal loss to Baldwin fuels their determination. Pitcher Greyson Osbun, who took the mound in that game, acknowledges his role in the defeat and is eager to improve. This year, the team hopes to avoid repeating that outcome and secure a state title, cementing their legacy as a “special group” of players.
Kamehameha Kapalama begins their state tournament quest on Thursday.
