Mon May 05 18:55:01 UTC 2025: ## Tamil Nadu Police Busts Matrimonial and Investment Scam Ring

**Chennai, May 6, 2025** – The Tamil Nadu Cyber Crime Wing has arrested six individuals from across India for running a sophisticated matrimonial and investment scam. The gang targeted victims through social media and matrimonial websites, using mule accounts to collect funds.

In one instance, a doctor was defrauded of ₹15.62 lakh after a woman posing as a London resident claimed her gold jewellery had been seized by customs officials in Chennai. Another victim lost ₹15 lakh after being promised a job in the UK for his brother by someone claiming to represent a matrimonial website. Several other victims, including a bank manager, were also targeted using similar tactics.

Following investigations into multiple complaints, special teams from the Madurai cyber crime police apprehended the suspects in New Delhi, Gujarat, and Uttar Pradesh. The police investigation is ongoing.
