Mon May 05 15:00:00 UTC 2025: ## Rain Washes Out SRH vs DC IPL Match, Eliminating Sunrisers From Playoff Contention

**Hyderabad, India** – The 55th match of IPL 2025 between Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Delhi Capitals (DC) was abandoned due to rain at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. DC managed to post a score of 133/7 in 20 overs before the downpour prevented SRH from beginning their innings. The match was ultimately declared a no-result, resulting in a points split.

This washout effectively eliminated SRH from playoff contention. Captained by Pat Cummins, the team, which was the IPL 2024 runner-up, has struggled this season, winning only three of their eleven matches. Their current tally of seven points leaves them firmly in seventh place on the points table.

While the point split didn’t drastically alter DC’s position (they remain fifth with 13 points from 11 matches), it increased their pressure. A loss and a washout in their next three games could severely damage their playoff hopes.

The IPL points table remains tightly contested. Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) leads with 16 points, although not yet officially qualified for the playoffs. Punjab Kings (PBKS) are second with 15, followed closely by Mumbai Indians (MI) and Gujarat Titans (GT) with 14 points each. Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) were previously eliminated from playoff contention.

Before the rain intervened, DC’s innings was bolstered by a crucial 66-run partnership between Tristan Stubbs (41*) and Ashutosh Sharma (41). Pat Cummins’s early breakthroughs, which saw DC lose five wickets for 29 runs, were ultimately negated by this late surge. Jaydev Unadkat impressed with economical figures of 1/13 in four overs for DC.
