HYDERABAD, May 5, 2025 – The Engineering, Agriculture, and Pharmacy Common Entrance Test (EAPCET) 2025 concluded with a significantly higher number of student absences compared to previous years. While the Agriculture and Pharmacy entrance exams were held on April 29th and 30th, the Engineering exam took place from May 2nd to 4th.

A total of 86,762 students registered for the Agriculture and Pharmacy exams, with 81,198 appearing, resulting in a 6.41% absenteeism rate (5,564 students). However, the most significant drop was seen in the Engineering exam. While 2,20,327 students registered, only 2,07,190 appeared, indicating a 6.34% absenteeism rate (13,137 students). This represents a decrease of 33,427 students compared to the 2,40,617 who took the exam in 2024. The usual absentee rate is around 5%.

The substantial decrease in the number of students appearing for the Engineering exam has led to speculation that a large number of seats in engineering colleges will remain vacant this year. The reasons behind the increased absenteeism are yet to be officially determined.
