Mon May 05 15:00:00 UTC 2025: ## Rain Washes Out IPL 2025 Match Between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Delhi Capitals

**Hyderabad, May 5, 2025** – The 55th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 between Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Delhi Capitals (DC) was abandoned due to rain on Monday. This marks the third IPL 2025 match affected by inclement weather.

SRH, winning the toss, elected to bowl first. Delhi Capitals managed to score 133/7 in their 20 overs, thanks largely to unbeaten knocks of 41 from Tristan Stubbs and 41 from Ashutosh Sharma. Pat Cummins was the pick of the SRH bowlers, taking 3 wickets. However, before SRH could begin their innings, rain interrupted play, and the match was eventually called off.

The abandonment has eliminated Sunrisers Hyderabad from playoff contention. Both teams received one point each, leaving Delhi Capitals with 13 points from 11 matches, placing them 5th in the standings. Sunrisers Hyderabad, with only 7 points from 11 matches, cannot reach the 14 points needed to remain in the running for a playoff spot. Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals are the other two teams already eliminated from playoff contention.

Delhi Capitals next face Punjab Kings on May 8th, while Sunrisers Hyderabad will play Kolkata Knight Riders on May 10th. The early wickets taken by Pat Cummins for SRH put the DC team on the back foot initially, although a strong partnership between Stubbs and Sharma salvaged a somewhat respectable total before the rain ultimately brought a premature end to the contest.
