**HARTFORD, OH –** Sharon Speedway, celebrating its 96th anniversary, is entering a new era under new ownership. Effective May 10th, a new team comprised of NASCAR Cup Series driver Ryan Blaney, his father Dave Blaney, and local businessman Will Thomas III will take the reins.
The Speedway, previously owned by Dave Blaney, Jim Weller Sr., and the Kirila brothers (Bill and Ron), has seen significant changes in recent months. Following the passing of Bill Kirila in 2006, Jim Weller Sr. passed away in January and Ron Kirila in April.
Dave Blaney, a Sharon Speedway legend and former champion of the World of Outlaws and USAC, has been involved with the track for 23 years. His son, Ryan Blaney – the 2023 NASCAR Cup Champion and 2024 runner-up – adds his considerable experience and name recognition to the new ownership group. Rounding out the trio is Will Thomas III, a successful racer and owner of Colonial Metal Products and Colonial Slitting Industries.
The 2025 season kicks off on Saturday, May 10th, with a Super Series event featuring the Hovis Auto & Truck Supply 410 Sprint Cars competing for a $4,000 prize. The Gibson Insurance Agency Pro Stocks and the Alcon Mechanical Econo Mods will also be featured. Pits open at 4 p.m., general admission at 5 p.m., and racing begins at 7 p.m. The new ownership team is promising an exciting season for fans.
