Sun May 04 20:30:00 UTC 2025: ## Piastri Dominates Miami GP in McLaren 1-2
**Miami, FL** – Oscar Piastri secured his fourth victory of the 2025 Formula 1 season in a commanding performance at the Miami Grand Prix, leading a McLaren 1-2 finish alongside teammate Lando Norris. The Australian’s win extends his championship lead.
A thrilling start saw Max Verstappen initially hold the lead from pole position, but a battle with Norris allowed Piastri and Kimi Antonelli to advance. Piastri swiftly overtook Antonelli and then Verstappen, seizing the lead on lap 14 after a strategic move. Norris followed suit, securing second place.
The McLarens dominated the race, building a significant gap to the rest of the field. George Russell finished third for Mercedes, a considerable distance behind the leading McLarens, highlighting the team’s superior pace. Verstappen ended up fourth, continuing the trend of Miami pole-sitters never winning the race.
The race saw several incidents, including a multi-car clash at the start involving Jack Doohan, a spin for Fernando Alonso, and mechanical retirements for Liam Lawson, Gabriel Bortoleto, and Ollie Bearman, all triggering Virtual Safety Car periods. The stewards will investigate possible yellow flag infringements by Carlos Sainz and Pierre Gasly. A late-race controversy involved a team orders debate between Ferrari drivers Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton, resulting in position swaps. A last-lap battle between Hamilton and Sainz will also be reviewed.
Alex Albon achieved an impressive fifth place for Williams, while Ferrari’s Leclerc and Hamilton finished seventh and eighth respectively. Yuki Tsunoda secured the final point in tenth for Red Bull.
Piastri’s victory extends his championship lead to 26 points over Norris, with Verstappen in third. Formula 1 now heads to Imola for the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix.
