Sun May 04 19:44:55 UTC 2025: ## Pakistan Seeks UN Security Council Meeting After Pahalgam Attack

**Islamabad, May 5, 2025** – Pakistan has requested an urgent meeting of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) to discuss escalating tensions with India following the deadly Pahalgam terror attack on April 22nd. The attack, which claimed 26 lives, is the deadliest in the Kashmir Valley since the 2019 Pulwama attack.

Pakistan’s Foreign Minister, Ishaq Dar, instructed the country’s UN Permanent Representative to convene the meeting. The Foreign Office stated that Pakistan will highlight India’s alleged “aggressive actions, provocations, and provocative statements,” particularly focusing on India’s suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty. Pakistan claims these actions jeopardize regional peace and security.

This move follows a meeting last week between Pakistan’s UN envoy and UN Secretary-General António Guterres, where the security situation was discussed. Pakistan, currently serving as a non-permanent member of the UNSC, aims to present its perspective on the situation to the international community.
